FAQs about Our Slumber Sleeper
Answers and Product Details
What is the Slumber Sleeper™ and how is it different from other baby sleep products?
The Slumber Sleeper™ is an innovative 3-in-1 baby sleeping product; it is a waterproof mattress protector, a fitted sheet, and a sleep sack all in one. This safe sleep solution keeps your baby warm and centered and encourages your child to sleep on their back and learn to be a back sleeper. Your child will feel like they are being held and cradled and will sleep through the night. Unlike other products, the Slumber Sleeper™ keeps baby centered in the crib while also allowing freedom of movement for your child to sit up and change positions as development occurs. The Slumber Sleeper™ is the only thing your baby will ever need from infant to toddler, saving you money and giving you peace of mind.
Why and When Should I use the Slumber Sleeper™?
We suggest that you begin using the Slumber Sleeper™ with the Slumber Swaddle™ attachment from newborn up to 3 months of age or when your child no longer requires swaddling. The exception would be if the baby is very small, possibly premature. It is important that the Slumber Sleeper™ fit snugly on baby’s torso. If your child is very small or premature, please consult with your pediatrician prior to use. If you have not had the opportunity to use The Slumber Sleeper™ and Slumber Swaddle™, and your child has progressed past swaddling, we suggest you start using the Slumber Sleeper™ anytime after 3 months, the earlier the better. Once your baby has grown accustomed to sleeping with the Slumber Sleeper™ you will be amazed at just how simple safe sleep can be.
Can I start using the Slumber Sleeper™ if my baby has already developed certain sleep habits?
YES, you can! As with all things baby, they love habits and routine. Beginning any new routine may take a few days of adjustment. We strongly urge you to try the Slumber Sleeper™ for at least 5 days and nights to give your child the greatest chance of adapting to the Slumber Sleeper™ The benefits of having a safe, secure and restful sleeping environment for your child is well worth it.
How do I use the Slumber Sleeper™? and how is it different from other baby sleep products?
The Slumber Sleeper™ is designed to be used on a crib or twin size mattress. You use the Slumber Sleeper™ the same way you would use a traditional fitted sheet. After placing the Slumber Sleeper™ on the mattress you simply place the baby in the unzipped sleeper portion and zip it up. Detailed instructions can be found here.
How and when should I wean my baby from the Slumber Sleeper™?
The Slumber Sleeper™ should be used for as long as your child is happy and content in it. The Slumber Sleeper™ is sold in twin size for use when your child graduates from the crib. It’s been our experience that children love the feeling the Slumber Sleeper™ gives them, the comfort and feeling of being held, and will want to stay in the Slumber Sleeper™ well past the age of 3 years. Your child will eventually be able to get themselves in and out of their Slumber Sleeper™ at which time you can be sure they will tell you when they are ready to stop using their sheet.
What if my baby rolls over in the Slumber Sleeper™?
The great thing about the Slumber Sleeper™ is that it allows older children the ability to move freely and change sleep positions. For younger children the The Slumber Sleeper™® unique design helps facilitate back sleeping and helps keep baby centered while in the crib. These are two very important components of safe sleep for babies, and you get the added benefit of easily keeping an eye on them without adjusting your baby monitor frequently.
What is the Snap-In-Place™ system and is it safe?
The Snap-in-Place™ system is patented technology that uses Polyacetal Resin Snaps to secure the Slumber Swaddle™, Slumber Swan™ and Slumber Silkie™ to the Slumber Sleeper™ helping to create a safe sleep environment for your child.
Who makes your snaps and are they safe for children?
All Swanling® Slumber products have Polyacetal Resin Snaps as part of our patented Snap-in-Place™ system. This includes all sheets and accessories. Polyacetal Resin Snaps are stronger and more durable than traditional plastic snaps. They are more secure than metal snaps and are recommended for baby/toddler items. Polyacetal Resin Snaps have been tested for harmful substances and comply with CPSIA regulations. Some of the many advantages of Polyacetal Resin Snaps are that they are lightweight, do not rust or melt (even with repeated washing and drying), have no sharp edges, are hypoallergenic (some children are allergic to metal) and plastic snaps cool faster than metal snaps out of the dryer (a benefit for little ones with sensitive skin).
Is the Slumber Sleeper™ a good value?
The Slumber Sleeper™ is an amazing value! As a 3-in-1 product you only have to buy the Slumber Sleeper™ and any accessories you may want. The Slumber Sleeper™ is a waterproof mattress protector, a fitted sheet and a sleep sack all in one. We sell the Slumber Sleeper™ in both crib and twin mattress sizes. There is no need for potentially dangerous bumpers, blankets or crib tents. The Slumber Sleeper™ allows parents to go straight to a twin mattress from infancy, and use the same sheets through a minimum of three years old, saving you money on multiple products and sizes.
Will the Slumber Sleeper™ work for all babies?
Every baby is different and what works for one baby may not work for another. However, we designed the Slumber Sleeper™ with babies in mind and they love the comforting feeling the Slumber Sleeper™ provides them along with all the wonderfully unique Slumber Sleeper™ accessories. The Slumber Swaddle™, Slumber Silkie™ and Slumber Swan™ will be instant favorites for your baby.
What should my baby wear with the Slumber Sleeper™?
Depending on the room temperature and the heat regulation of the baby, you can place the baby in the Slumber Sleeper™ with a diaper only, a cotton onesie, one or two-piece pajamas, or in a traditional one-piece sleeper. Frequently monitor your child’s temperature as overheating may be a factor in Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS).
What is the recommended room temperature?
Experts recommend keeping the room temperature at a level that would be comfortable for a lightly clothed adult (67-72°F/17-20°C). Please remember, however, that all babies regulate temperature differently. Frequently monitor your child’s temperature as overheating may be a factor in Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS).
Is the Slumber Sleeper™ safe?
YES it is! The Slumber Sleeper™ is a safe sleep alternative to crib tents, crib bumpers, baby positioners and sleep sacks. Patented fitted sheet technology helps the sheet stay on the mattress securely. Please read instructions prior to use and use only as directed. DISCONTINUE USE IF:
THE FASTENINGS OR ZIPPER ARE DAMAGED
CHILD IS ABLE TO BREAK FREE OF THE SLUMBER SLEEPER™
INSTRUCTIONS CANNOT BE FOLLOWED.
My child likes to climb out of the crib; does the Slumber Sleeper™ prevent this?
Yes. The Slumber Sleeper™ is a safe option to help keep your child in their crib or bed. If your child is in a crib she will be able to stand up but will not be able to swing a leg over the railing to climb out. And if your child has transitioned to a twin bed the Slumber Sleeper™ will not only keep them from coming out of bed for yet another drink of water, but it will also help keep them secure on the bed without the need for rails. The Slumber Sleeper™ will also keep your child covered through the night; lost blankets on the floor can cause children to wake up from being too cold.

How do I launder the Slumber Sleeper™?
To launder your Slumber Sleeper™ remove sheet from mattress before washing. Machine wash separately with cold water on gentle cycle and no bleach. To dry, unzip sheet and turn inside out to expose more of the sheet to ensure the two layers of sheet dry adequately. Tumble dry low, no iron. Do not dry clean.
Is the Slumber Sleeper™ waterproof?
YES! The Slumber Sleeper™ is a 3-in-1 product! We designed this sheet with your entire family in mind. Your child is protected against accidents in bed with our PUL waterproof lining and will not get overheated by “extra layers” on the bed as PUL breathes. You will be happy knowing your child is not in a wet bed and your pocketbook is not lighter buying yet another bed product. Why do you use PUL and is it safer than vinyl (PVC)? PUL (polyurethane) is breathable, allows heat exchange and is cooler to sleep on. Vinyl does not allow air to pass through it and so it reflects body heat and moisture back to the user. PUL is safe in the washer and dryer and can withstand washing after washing.
My child is a stomach sleeper; will they be able to use the Slumber Sleeper™?
YES! The Slumber Sleeper™ allows your child to move around freely on their stomach, back, or side. They can even stand up inside the sheet. The beauty of our patented design is that it encourages back sleeping, so even though they may end up on their stomachs they will naturally gravitate to sleeping on their back. The earlier the Slumber Sleeper™ is introduced the better, as it will train your child to sleep on their back regardless. It is our belief that children sleep on their stomach’s or in the child’s pose position because they are looking for comfort, like they are being held. The Slumber Sleeper™ accomplishes this making children feel like they are being held and comforted all night long.
Can my baby move around freely while in the Slumber Sleeper™?
The great thing about the Slumber Sleeper™ is that it allows older children the ability to move freely and change sleep positions. For younger children The Slumber Sleeper™ unique design helps facilitate back sleeping and helps keep baby centered while in the crib. These are two very important components of safe sleep for babies, and you get the added benefit of easily keeping an eye on them without adjusting your baby monitor frequently.
Does the Slumber Sleeper™ meet the Consumer Products Safety Commission (CPSC) guidelines for fabric flammability?
YES! Our products meet the requirement mandated by the CPSC Standard for Flammability of Clothing and Textiles under the Flammable Fabrics Act.
Does The Slumber Sleeper™ meet the ATSM standards for crib bedding?
Yes. Our products meet the Standard Consumer Safety Performance Specification for infant bedding and related accessories. ASTM International, formerly known as the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM), is a globally recognized leader in the development and delivery of international voluntary consensus standards. Today, some 12,000 ASTM standards are used around the world to improve product quality, enhance safety, facilitate market access and trade, and build consumer confidence.
Is the Slumber Sleeper™ chemically treated with flame retardant chemicals?
NO. All of our products are free from sprayed on or inherent chemicals. Many parents are unsure and unaware of the many topical fire retardants that are used on their children’s pajamas as it is a requirement for any wearable pajama to in fact be fire retardant. Almost all the cotton and fleece pajamas on the market are currently treated with flame retardant chemicals. This is yet another reason to use the Slumber Sleeper™ as its keeps your child warm with or without the need to wear pajamas.
